The Mexican soprano, Graciela Morales Escalante, began her music studies at the age of 15, under the tutelage of Emily Israel in Cuernavaca, Morelos. and continued her professional training at the Escuela Superior de Música del INBA, with Amelia Sierra (2011-2015). She has been awarded in various competitions: 1st Place and INBA Prize at he 2016 edition of the Concurso Internacional de Canto de Culiacán; 2nd Place and Audience Award at the Concurso Nacional de Canto Carlo Morelli; 1st Place and Mozart Prize at the Concurso Maritza Alemán de la Escuela Superior de Música; 3rd Place and Edgar Mason Award for outstanding Interpretation and Style at the Estilo en el Concurso San Miguel 2016. She was part of the Sociedad de Valores de Arte Mexicano (SIVAM) from 2011 to 2013 and of the Estudio de la Ópera de Bellas Artes (EOBA) from 2017 to 2018.
Graciela Morales has performed in the main venues of Mexico country and under the baton of important conductors, such as Arthur Fagen, Enrique Patrón de Rueda, Christian Gohmer, Xavier Ribes, James Demster, Lanfranco Marcelletti and Martin Lebel. Among her latest performances are the roles of Susana in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro, Pamina in Die Zauberflöte and Rosina in La finta semplice; Teresa in Francis Poulenc's Les mamelles de Tirésias; Morgana in George Frideric Handel's Alcina; Lucia in Benjamin Britten's The Rape of Lucrecia, among others. She has also participated with the Ensamble a Capella Gradus ad Parnassum and with the Coro de Madrigalistas de Bellas Artes.
In 2020 Graciela Morales began her international career at the renowned Festival Mozartwoche in Salzburg, Austria, under the direction of the tenor Rolando Villazón. She is currently part of the Opera Management Alma in Paris, and continues her studies with Raphaël Sikorski. |
