The Chilean soprano, Amalia Montero, completed her singing studies at the Music Institute in the Catholic University of Chile with the tenor Rodrigo del Pozo as her master teacher. In 2014 she moved to Basel (Switzerland) for specializing in the field of early music under the guidance of the mezzo-soprano Rosa Domínguez at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis and obtained there her Master of Arts degree Specialized in Historic Performance Practice (2014-2016). She then studied music education at Music Education at Pedagogía Musical Waldorf - Waldorf Music Education (December 2018-December 2021)
Amalia Montero has performed mainly opera and sacred repertoire from the Baroque period as well as chamber music of the 19th century, and she has had the opportunity to work with important conductors such as Manfredo Kraemer, Eduardo Egüez, Andrea Marcon and Ton Koopman. She has also colaborated with ensembles of early music in Chile, participating actively in concerts, international festivals and recordings of Colonial American Baroque repertoire.
Currently Amalia Montero is based in Switzerland where she is a member of La Cetra Barockorchester Basel (Director: Andrea Marcon) and I Discordanti (since 2016); and a teacher at Rudolf Steiner Schule Zürich in Schaffhausen (since August 2020). |
