The Swiss soprano, Carlyn Monnin, studied at the Institut de Ribaupierre, École Supérieure de Musique in Lausanne, where she obtained her piano teaching diploma in 2006, in the class of Enrico Camponovo. She also attended the professional singing class there with Zoé Dragotescu. At the same time, she took organ lessons with Philippe Gigandet in Moutier. She then continued her singing studies in Bruno Corti's class until obtaining her professional capacity diploma at the Conservatoire de Delémont in 2010. She perfected her skills with numerous teachers such as Alessandra Boër, Anne-Catherine Carega, Neil Semer, Gunhild Lang-Alsvik or Noëmi Nadelmann. She also participated in master-classes given by Brigitte Wohlfarth or Ioana Bentoiu.
Established from then on in the Swiss Jura, Carlyn Monnin teaches singing and piano in Porrentruy and is a member of the Société Suisse de Pédagogie Musicale. Regularly requested as a soloist, she has sung under the direction of conductors such as Michael Radulescu, Julien Laloux, Gabriel Wolfer, Lukas Wanner, Rodrigo Carneiro Da Silva, Dieter Wagner, Facundo Agudin, Pascal Arnoux. She has performed several times as a soloist or chorister in the Tribunes Baroques, notably for the concerts of the "Académie internationale Bach" under the direction of Michael Radulescu. In 2014, she had the honor of singing in a duet with the Lebanese tenor Eliya Francis during her visit to Switzerland.
In 2015, Carlyn Monnin founded the Ensemble Alternances with the Lausanne conductor Julien Laloux and his colleague Camille Chappuis and sang there as a soloist. This ensemble has given numerous concerts in Switzerland, among others during the "Week-end Musical de Pully" festival in 2016 and as part of "Piano à Porrentruy" in 2019. She also performs on stage, notably in shows Let's bouffe and Let's bouffe again, devoted to the lyrico-bouffe repertoire (works by J. Offenbach, Chabrier, Arthur Honegger, Satie).
In 2016, Carlyn Monnin collaborated with the group "Silver Dust" and participated in the interpretation of a title from her album "Age of Decadence" published throughout Europe. The track, which is called Forgive me, was also the subject of a music video. She has performed several times on stage with the group, such as at the "Chant du Gros" festival at Noirmont. That same year, she was honored with the cultural prize of the city of Porrentruy.
Carlyn Monnin's repertoire ranges from Baroque to contemporary, including sacred music, oratorio, lied and opera.
As a pianist and organist, Carlyn Monnin accompanies several choirs, singers or instrumentalists. For 8 years, she worked as an accompanying pianist during the rehearsals of the choir "Espace Choral" under the direction of Facundo Agudin.
Along with her multiple musical engagements, Carlyn Monnin devotes herself to composition. She wrote a mass for capella choir in 2005 as well as two collections for piano in 2007 and 2016. |
