Manfred Mitterbauer (Bass-Baritone)

Born: Austria

The Austrian bass-baritone, Manfred Mitterbauer, is a graduate of the Linzer Musikgymnasium and then studied music at the University of Vienna with Professors Annamaria Rott, Gerhard Kahry and Kammersänger Walter Berry.

As an artist of many major oratorios and cantatas, as well as over 70 different masses, Manfred Mitterbauer has sung in Austria, Germany, Portugal, the UK, and at festivals such as the Osterklang Wien, the Wiener Festwochen or the Brucknerfest Linz. In the Austrian music scene, he played roles in operas of George Frideric Handel, W.A. Mozart, R. Strauss and Thomas Christian David. He has a special affinity for the Lieder genre, which he makes through the inclusion of different forms of art and design principles (dance, visual recording, visual arts,...).

Manfred Mitterbauer can be heard on several CD and radio recordings, including contemporary works, with some compositions of Balduin Sulzer, Franz Xaver Frenzel or Hannes Raffaseder, which he also premiered. As a singing teacher, he also heads the Section for Singing in the Upper Austrian Provincial Music School. In this role, he has intiniated, inter alia, the Austrian Competition for Voice "Olympia", the International Workshop for Lieder singing and Lieder Accompaniment - Sommer Lied Weinberg" with the English Lieder accompanist Roger Vignoles, and the concert series "kinder mundwerk". He lives with his wife Sigrid and his children, Benedict, Tabea, Nathan and Philomena in Kremsmünster / Upper Austria.
