The German soprano, Maria Meckel, received her first singing lessons from the Potsdam soprano Christine Wolff. She studied at Evangelisches Gymnasium Hermannswerder in Potsdam, and at TU Dresden. After participating in several world premieres (Wilfried Krätzschmar's Schlüsseloper and Eun Sun Lee's Vorfall in Kwangju - co-operation between Hochschule für Musik Dresden and Semperoper), she made her debut in May 2011 at the Wittener Tagen für neue Kammermusik. In 2007 and 2010 she sang the role of Blonde in W.A. Mozart's Die Entführung aus dem Serail at the Choriner Opernsommer, and in 2008-2009 the Queen of the Night and Papagena in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte conducted by Dieter Reuscher. In addition, she performs regularly as a soloist in operetta concerts. She also teaches at Heinrich-Zille-Schule Radeburg.
