The Catalan soprano and pianist, Maria Mauri Fàbregas, started playing the piano at the Escola de Música de Vic and at family dinners together with her cousin Agnès Mauri. She graduated in in Interpretation of Classical and Contemporary Music for piano from the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) in 2013, studying solo piano with Professor Vlandislav Bronevetzky and Lied with Francisco Poyato. Later on, she studied a second degree in choral and orchestral conducting at the same school. She also studied for her Master of Music degree in Piano Accompaniment at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. She has also received master-classes from the pianists Paul Badura-Skoda, Boris Berman, Nelly Ben-Or, Luiz de Moura Castro, Jacques Rouvier; and conductors Julia Jones, Benjamin Zander and Rut Schereider, among others. While in London, she There she started in the world of conducting and opera, observing and working with highly trained singers and collaborating with vocal and early music ensembles. She has been awarded scholarships for musical excellence from the Victora Foundation in Los Angeles, the Anna Riera Foundation and Guildhall Scholarship Awards. She has received singing lessons from professors Carlos Gómez, Natasha Tupin and Enedina Lloris, among others.
Maria Mauri participated in the recording of the album "Pau&Victòria" (Columna Música, 2013) with unpublished pieces by Pablo Casals, and lately she was invited to play as a pianist of the Cor Jove Nacional de Catalunya. Parallel to her activity as a pianist, she is also a conductor and singer. She is the conductor of the chamber choirs NOCTES and ARSinNOVA, and the solo singer in the poetic-musical show “El nus la flor” by Daniel Ariño and Enric Casasses.
Currently, Maria Mauri is mainly dedicated to the accompaniment of vocal and choral repertoire, and she has played in more than fifty Lied, opera and chamber music concerts, performing in venues such as L’Auditori, the Gran Teatre del Liceu and the Palau de la Música. She has also given concerts in France and the United Kingdom.
Maria Mauri has been part of several choirs, among which stand out Ensemble Vocal O Vos Omnes, Fònics 2.0 and Cor Jove Nacional de Catalunya. She currently combines her professional activity (as a singer, pianist and director of choirs) with the study of Choral and Orchestral Conducting at ESMUC. She is a member of Bach Collegium Barcelona (Director: Pau Jorquera). She studies with Salvador Brotons and Johan Duijck. In between, she practices Aikido weekly. |
