Tabita Martínez (Soprano)

Born: Santiago, Chile

The Chilean soprano, Tabita Martínez Riveros, obtained her Bachelor of Music degree from Universidad Metropolitana (UMCE), where she studied lyrical singing at the Faculty of Arts with teacher Carmen Luisa Letelier. Scholarship at Opera Studio Gijón to be an active student in a master-class with Fiorenza Cedolins. She perfected her studies at the Conservatori Liceu in Barcelona where she performed Music Training with the teacher Eduard Gimenez and later with the teacher Dolors Aldea (February 2020). She was also invited to participate in the Opera Master of the same conservatory performing the role of First Lady in W.A. Mozart's opera Die Zauberflöte, under the musical guidance of Mexican tenor Francisco Araiza. She was Scholarship holder for 5 consecutive years by the “Amigos del Teatro Municipal” corporation and scholarship holder of the “Fundación “Ibáñez Atkinson” (1 year). Her awards include: Winner of the 1st place at the international competition Laguna Mágica 2018 (Chile), finalist and honor prize at the Trujillo competition, Peru 2018; She won 2nd Place at the Josep Palet competition in Martorell, Spain 2019, where she also won the audience award; 2nd place at Women in Music III competitiont, 2019. She was active student of outstanding singers and repertorists such as Carlos Álvarez, Francisco Araiza, Dolora Zajick, Graciela Araya, Jennifer Larmore, Giulio Zappa, Marta Pujol, José Miguel Pérez-Sierra (director). Her current teacher is Rodrigo Navarrete.

Tabita Martínez has debuted the roles of First Lady in W.A. Mozart's opera Die Zauberflöte (Auditori Cconservatori Liceu Barcelona), Frasquita in Georges Bizet's Carmen at Medialuna Rancagua, Teatro Municipal de Las Condes (August 2019), Gómez in Sebastián Errazuriz's Papelucho, Elvira in Rossini's Italiana in Algiers at Teatro Municipal de Santiago (October 2019).

Tabita Martínez has been a soloist in works such as W.A. Mozart's Requiem (Foyer TM De viña del mar) Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's Stabat Mater (together with the Boecio chamber group, April 2022) Carl Orff's Carmina Burana at GAM cultural center and together with the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Chile this last concert performed at the Caupolicán Theater (December 2019), L.v. Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 (130th anniversary PU Católica), Felix Mendelssohn's A Midsummer Night's Dream at Teatro Municipal De Stgo with the Chilean Philharmonic Orchestra, George Frideric Handel's Messiah with the Barroca de Santiago (December 2019), Zerlina in W.A. Mozart's opera Don Giovanni at Teatro Regional del Maule (March 2020).

Upcoming engagements: Soloist in the television spaces of the Orquesta Clásica Usach, under the direction of maestro Nicolás Rauss, soloist in J.S. Bach's Matthäus-Passion BWV 244 (August 2020) and the role of Frasquita in Georges Bizet's opera Carmen in the 2021 season of the Teatro Municipal de Santiago.
