Jone Martínez (Soprano)

Born: December 10, 1990 - Sopela, Basque Country, Spain

The Spanish soprano, Jone Martínez, began her musical apprenticeship at the Conservatorio de Leioa, singing in the children's choir Leioa Kantika Korala and studying guitar, before starting the singing studies with Olatz Saitua at the Conservatorio Juan Crisóstomo de Arriaga in Bilbao. In 2013, she obtained a degree in Pedagogy of Musical Language and Musical Education by Musikene, Conservatorio Superior de Música en San Sebastián where she is currently finishing her lyrical singing studies with Maite Arruabarrena (vocal technique) and Maciej Pikulski (interpretation and repertoire). She also expands her training with Carlos Mena, with whom she specializes in ancient music.

Parallel to her activity as a choir teacher and assistant to different choirs - Leioa Kantika Korala, La Kantoria, San Juan Bautista Abesbatza and Vocalia Taldea, Jone Martínez started a fast solo singer career. Her vocal and artistic qualities of soprano coloratura have been perceived by important directors: Andoni Sierra, Carlos Mena, Rumon Gamba, David Guindano, Rupert Damerell, Raúl Mallavibarrena and Basilio Astulez.

Jone Martínéz has sung the soloist parts in great Baroque and Classical works, among them: Requiem by W.A. Mozart in Kursaal - San Sebastián and in Beasain; Messiah by George Frideric Handel in A Coruña; Mass in B minor BWV 232 by J.S. Bach at the Semana de Música Religiosa de Cuenca y en San Sebastián (Week of Religious Music of Cuenca and San Sebastian); Dido and Aaneas by Purcell (Belinda) in Ordizia; Misa Sancti Leopoldi by Michael Haydn in San Sebastián and in Lekeitio; Lord Nelson Mass by J. Haydn in San Sebastián; Madrigals by Monteverdi at the Teatro Arriaga in Bilbao and has also sung many Renaissance and Baroque works, recitals of songs and concerts of contemporary music.

Among Jone Martínéz next projects are a concert tour of Spanish Polyphony in Hong Kong (March 2019), Johannes-Passion BWV 245 by J.S. Bach in Pamplona (April 2019); Markus-Passion by Reinhard Keiser in Pamplona (April 2019); Messiah by G.F. Handel in Estella (September 2019); Mass in C minor by W.A.
