Chiara Maggi (Soprano)

Born: May 1, 1977 - Italy

The Italian soprano, Chiara Maggi, began to approach the singing as a child attending choral groups among which the Corale Polifonica Forte dei Marmi directed by her father and of which today is its director. Her interest in early music led her to perfect with singers such as Jill Feldmann, Gloria Banditelli, Lia Serafini. In 2013 she graduated in Renaissance and Baroque singing at the Conservatorio “A. Pedrollo” in Vicenza with Patrizia Vaccari. She attended several courses on vocal technique - functional method with Antonella Soana Fracassi and courses in propaedeutics with Mario Piatti, Ciro Paduano, Serena Facci, Marco Montanelli.

In addition to concert activity as a solo singer, Chiara Maggi continues to cultivate her passion for choral music by attending several seminars with the best conductors and ensembles (Gary Graden, Hilliard Ensemble, King's Singers). Since 2000 she has collaborated with the vocal group Il Convitto Armonico with whom she gives lectures - concert at the Conservatorio di La Spezia and recording activity (Tactus); since 2006 she is a member of the Baschenis Ensemble, instrumental and vocal group specialized in music of the Renaissance period. In 2012 with the Melodi Cantores she sang at the Ravenna Festival directed by Dennis Russel Davies (The Planets by Gustav Holst) and Riccardo Muti (Sancta Susanna by Paul Hindemith). She performed as a soloist in 2009 at the Festival of Estense music "Grandezze e meraviglie" in Modena and at the Teatro Olimpico di Vicenza conducted by Roy Goodman; she sang in various groups, including Lux Feminae together with Montserrat Figueras. Since 2010, she is a member of La Capella Reial de Catalunya (Director: Jordi Savall), with which she performs all over Europe, both with Hespèrion XXI and with Le Concert des Nations. With the latter she recorded the Mass in B minor (BWV 232) by J.S. Bach and collaborated in the creation of Pro Pacem.

Along with the concert activity, Chiara Maggi has been teaching as a teacher in preschools and primary schools and since 2016 at the Centro Studi Musicali in Forte de Marmi (between Genoa and Florence) as a teacher of singing and choral singing.
