Martina Licari (Soprano)

Born: Palermo, Italy

The Italian soprano, Martina Licari, began at the age of 9 her musical experience with the children's choir of the Teatro Biondo Stabile in Palermo and until the age of majority she was part of the children's choir of the Alessandro Scarlatti Conservatory of Palermo (since 2005), taking part in numerous concerts and artistic events also international on behalf of prestigious institutions and musical associations. In December 2018, she completed her studies of chamber vocal music at the Conservatorio Vincenzo Bellini Palermo with full marks and honors, under the careful guidance of Filomena Schettino. She was Finalist at the 19th edition of the Ottavio Ziino international opera competition; and Finalist at the 13th edition of the international competition Cesti Competition in Innusbruck where she was awarded the Festival della Valle d'Itria prize.

Martina Licari immediately ranges from the chamber repertoire to the operatic one, from the Baroque to the contemporary. In 2020 she made her debut at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice in the role of Second Woman in Henry Purcell's Dido and Æneas by. She is the winner of several competitions including the first edition of the competition for baroque voices "Voci Olimpiche" thanks to which, at the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza, she embodies Morgana in George Frideric Handel's Alcina, conducted by Andrea Marcon and directed by Davide Strava. In September 2021 she returned to the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza to interpret Ismene in W.A. Mozart's Mitridate Re di Ponto, with the Baroque Orchestra of the Vicenza Festival in Lirica conducted by Luca Oberti and directed by Natale de Carolis. In September 2022 she took part in the Massenzio 2035 project within the Stradella Young Projet collaborating with the Mare Nostrum ensemble directed by Andrea De Carlo. In October 2022, she sang the role of Ersilia in Domenico Cimarosa's opera Le astuzie bambini for the Reate Festival, conducted by Alessandro De Marchi and directed by Cesare Scarton. Since March 2023, she is a choir member at Teatro Massimo Bellini Di Catania.

Martina Licari carries out an intense concert activity which sees her engaged with the main Sicilian and non-Sicilian musical realities such as the Seicentonovecento ensembles directed by Flavio Colusso, Arianna Art Ensemble, Alessandro Scarlatti Early Music Ensemble directed by Ignazio Maria Schifani, Orchestra Barocca Siciliana and National Baroque Conservatory Orchestra. She currently lives in Catania, Italy.
