The American mezzo-soprano, Carolena Belle Lara, obtained her Bachelor of Music degree in Voice and Opera and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Italian Language and Literature, both from University of Oklahoma (2011-2016). During her studies at University of Oklahoma, she was Choral Intern at McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church (September 2011-March 2015: Soloist, section leader, administrative assistance); Stage Directing Intern at Druid City Opera Workshop in Tuscaloosa, Alabama (May-June 2015); Cantor at St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church (since March 2015: Cantor, choir member, section leader, administrative assistance).
Carolena Belle Lara is currently Candidate for the degree of Doctor of Musical Arts at Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester, in the studio of Kathryn Cowdrick (since 2016; expected graduation: August 2022). She has been in Applied Voice Faculty at Hobart and William Smith Colleges (August 2019-May 2021); Graduate Voice Department Assistant at Eastman School of Music; Assistant Stage Manager at Eastman School of Music (since 2016); Resident Chorister at Houston Grand Opera (since May 2022); Voice teacher at Kingwood Music School (since October 2022). |
