Ranveig Helen Lægreid (Soprano)

Born: 1982- Eidfjord, Hardanger, Norway

The Norwegian soprano, Ranveig Helen Lægreid, studied at Toneheim folkehøgskole (2001-2002). In 2005, she participated in autumn exchange student at Turku University of Applied Sciences. She obtained her Bachleor of Music degree in Singing from the Griegakademiet in Bergen (2002-2006), where she also received Practical-pedagogical education (2006-2007), and Baroque ensemble (2007-2008). In 2008, she studied Art History, From Antiquity Through Baroque a the University of Bergen. In December 2012, she obtained her Master of Music degree in Singing from the The Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen, where her voice teacher was opera soloist Anne Margrethe Dahl (2010-2012). She attended master-classes with Rudolf Jansen, Bo Skovhus, Josef Protschka, Helmuth Deutsch, Elena Obraztsova, Barry Banks, Sibylla Rubens, Bud Beyer, Susanna Eken, Howard Crook, Helene Ziebarth, Barbro Marklund.

Ranveig Helen Lægreid has taken part in several CD-recordings, among them is a Grieg recording with the pianist Torgeir Kinne Solsvik where she interprets Edvard Griegs Haugtussa. She has sung concerts in Norway, Finland, England, Denmark and in Germany. She has been a soloist with different choirs and she has arranged tours and concerts with various musicians. In addition to be an active soloist, she has been singing in choirs as Det Norske Solistkor (Director: Grete Pedersen) from Oslo), Holmens Vokalensemble from Copenhagen and Mogens Dahl Chamber Choir from Copenhagen. Currently she is singing in Gaechinger Cantorey (Director: Hans-Christoph Rademann from Stuttgart (since 2012) and Christian IV Vokalensemble from Copenhagen (since 2014). From the autumn 2016 she is employed in Trondheim Symphony Orchestra (Norway) as an ensemble singer in the recently established Trondheim Vokalensemble.

Ranveig Helen Lægreid has been a soloist in Arvo Pärt's Passio, George Frideric Handel's Messiah and J.S. Bach's s Christmas Oratorio (BWV 248). In additon to be an active classical singer, she also sings Norwegian folk music. The last few years she has also made melodies to poems made by the Norwegian poets Olav H. Hauge and Jon Fosse. It can be classified as new-written folk music.
