The Belgian tenor, Adriaan De Koster, started his music studies after obtaining degrees in economics and arts management at the universities of Leuven and Antwerp. He studied with Marianne Vliegen and Lieve Jansen in Leuven, and with Andrew Schroeder in The Hague. In master-classes, he has had great experiences with Janette Fischer, Anna Nativitade, Christoph Prégardien and Maarten Koningsberger.
As a soloist Adriaan De Koster sang many Cantatas, Magnificat (BWV 243) and the Evangelist and aria’s in the Passions (BWV 244, BWV 245) by J.S. Bach, as well as Messiah, L'Allegro, Il Penseroso ed il Moderato, Dixit Dominus and Chandos Anthem 11 by George Frideric Handel. He performed the tenor solo part in the Vespro della Beata Vergine (Monteverdi), Membra nostri Jesu (Dietrich Buxtehude) and the Markus-Passion (by Friedrich Nicolaus Brauns [Bruhns]; previously attributed to Reinhard Keiser) as well as playing the role of Florville in Rossini's Il Signor Bruschino. With the Octopus Soloists he took part in the musical theatre production of Almschi.
Next to his solo work, Adriaan De Koster also is an ensemble singer. He has sung many concerts with Currende and La Petite Bande (Director: Sigiswald Kuijken) and works regularly with the Vlaams Radio Koor. He is part of the gregorian group Psallentes and did several projects with ensembles as Vox Luminis (Director: Lionel Meunier), Graindelavoix, Ensemble Pygmalion (Director: Raphaël Pichon) and Nieuw Nederlands Vocaal Ensemble (Director: Béni Csillag). Since this year, he is singing with Huelgas Ensemble. He is also a member of Ensemble BachPlus (Director: Bart Naessens), Cappella Amsterdam (Director: Daniel Reuss), Utopia Ensemble (Belgian handmade polyphony) and Beauty Farm (a-cappella Renaissance). In this way, he has had the opportunity to work with many interesting conductors like Erik Van Nevel, Masaaki Suzuki, Hervé Niquet, Richard Egarr, Philippe Herreweghe and Sigiswald Kuijken.
