The Dutch soprano, Titia van Heyst, was asked as a 12-year-old girl, to act as solo fairy Peaseblossom in Benjamin Britten's opera A Midsummer Nights Dream, a Dutch National Opera production. There the seeds were sown for her inner motives: a common love for music and the urge to perform it to perfection. In May 2007 she obtained her master's degree at the Koninklijk Conservatorium in Den Haag. During her master's studies she specialized in French and German art song. She studied with Sasja Hunnego and also took lessons and master-classes with, among others, Anne Sofie von Otter, Elly Ameling and Jard van Nes. She is now coached by soprano Hanneke de Wit.
Titia van Heyst is an all-round soprano and much sought-after soloist. With her clear, flexible voice she brings a variety of early music to life. From J.S. Bach to Johannes Brahms. Major oratorio works regularly performed by her include J.S. Bach's Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244), George Frideric Handel's Messiah, Haydn's Die Schöpfung, J. Brahms' Ein Deutsches Requiem, Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle and Francis Poulenc's Gloria.
Titia van Heyst has always made her musical development a priority. She is therefore regularly asked as a soloist, also abroad. She previously toured Denmark, Sweden and France with J.S. Bach's Johannes-Passion (BWV 245). She also worked - in collaboration with the Promenade Orkest - on the CD 'Krönungsmesse' by the Kathedrale Koor St. Bavo.
In addition to being a soloist, Titia van Heyst is a passionate ensemble singer. From February 2018 she is part-time associated with the Groot Omroepkoor. Outside the Netherlands she has performed with top ensembles throughout South Africa, the USA, Venezuela and Europe. |
