Elmar Hauser (Counter-tenor)

Born: Winterthur, Canton of Zürich, Switzerland

The Swiss, counter-tenor, Elmar Hauser, gained his first singing experience as a boy soprano. For many years he was a member and soloist of the Jugendchors der Stadtkirche Winterthur under the direction of Christoph Kobelt. Later he trained his voice in singing lessons and master-classes with David Thorner and Jane Thorner-Mengedoht and switched from tenor to counter-tenor. He completed a support program and preparatory studies at the Konservatorium Winterthur. Since 2018 he has been studying for his Bachelor of Music degree in classical singing in the class of Werner Güra at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste (ZHdK).

Elmar Hauser had appearances in the contemporary music theater productions Der schönste Tag by the collective "Wer ist Hilda?" and and then Chikipoko in Gessneralle. He sings regularly as a soloist and member in numerous concerts with the Chamber Choir of the Konservatorium Winterthur and has participated in projects by the vocal ensembles "Dolce Far Canto" and "Zurich Chamber Singers". With the trio "Elastomikarusch" he had the opportunity to improvise freely, musically and scenically, at the Medienzentrum des Bundeshauses. Most recently he sang as a guest at the Early Music Festival "Les Riches Heures de Valère" and at the Winterthur Museum Concerts. At the Theater zur Waage in Elgg and at the Theater am Gleis in Winterthur he sang the title role of Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice.
