The Korean-American soprano, keyboardist, and researcher, Sea Najung Han (they/them), are specializing in early Western art music and the music of living, “global” composers. Born and raised in Queens, New York, they attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in Manhattan. They earned their Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Westminster Choir College (2016-2020), studying with Margaret Cusack. They recently obtained their Master of Music degree in Early Music Voice from Yale Institute of Sacred Music (August
2021-May 2023). A chorister and a creative recitalist, they were at Yale to actively move the classical music scene away from its white supremacist and capitalist ideologies toward a safer space for people of color and other marginalized individuals, specifically, queer, non-Christian, transgender, neurodivergent, disabled, and unhoused people.
Sea Han have been a church musician for over 10, both as a music director/organist and as a chorister. They have been Tutor in foreign languages (German and French), music theory, and piano at Westminster Choir College of Rider University (January 2017-December 2019); Minister Of Music at Christ Congregation Princeton (January 2018-June 2020); Chorister at Church of the Holy Trinity New York City (October 2020-August 2022). Early music, specifically Italian early Renaissance-Baroque, and German/French late Baroque music is their passion. They enjoy creating recitals and have programmed their own themed recitals based around feminism, politics, and mysticism for the last five years. |
