The Canadian soprano/mezzo-soprano, Maria Elayne Gubbels, graduated from Florida State University College of Music in Tallahassee in 2015.

Maria Gubbels has performed the role of Kate Pinkerton in G. Puccini's Madama Butterfly with Opera Idaho (February 2021); the role of Gasparina in J. Haydn's La Canterina (in English) with Ottawa Pocket Opera (July 2015); the role of Hermia in Benjamin Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream with Opera NUOVA (summer 2019); and the role of Ruggiero in George Frideric Handel's Alcina with the Chicago Summer Opera (July 2021).
