Megan Graves (Mezzo-soprano)

Born: September 16, 1997 - Haslet (Fort Worth), Texas, USA

The American mezzo-soprano, Megan Graves, obtained her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester (2015-2019); and her Master of Music degree in Performance/Voice from University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (2019-2021). She was a District Winner in the Houston District of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions (2021), and received an Encouragement Award at the Gulf Coast Regionals of MONC (2021). Additionally, she has won the Three Arts Fund Vocal Competition in both 2020 and 2021.

In the first year of her Masters Degree at CCM, Megan Graves sang the role of Quickly in Falstaff and Third Lady in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte. As a member of Cincinnati Opera Chorus and Ensemble, she performed in Georges Bizet's Carmen and Tosca as well as being featured as a soloist in Cincinnati Opera’s Community Outreach Program. She also sang the roles of Nelly, Julien and Heather in Cincinnati Opera, Opera Fusion’s workshop production of Kevin Puts’ opera The Hours for The Metropolitan Opera. She was a Bailey Apprentice Artist with Palm Beach Opera (November 2021-April 2022). As a part of Palm Beach Opera's 2022 season, she performed the role of Second Witch in their production of Dido and Aeneas (December 2022), cover Sorceress in Dido and Aeneas, and study cover the roles of Carmen and Mercédès in Carmen. A consummate musician and passionate lover of contemporary music, she created the role of Rumer in the world premiere of William Menefield’s opera Fierce with Cincinnati Opera (July 2022). In the fall of 2022 she was in a workshop with Cincinnati Opera of Oh Children it’s Going to Rain, a new opera by Kevin Day and Tifara Knowles. Since August 2022, she is based out of Oslo, Norway where she is a full-time chorus member of Den Norske Opera & Ballet. In the 2022-2023 season she will be covering Erste Magd in Elektra at this opera house.
