The Spanish counter-tenor, Daniel Folqué Giménez, started learning music at the Escolania de Montserrat under the direction of Joaquim Piqué and Bernat Vivancos (2006-2012). There he studied piano, violin and singing, and worked with conductors such as Sir Neville Marriner and sang on tours of Europe. He studied Classical and Contemporary Singing at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya as a counter-tenor with Mireia Pintó and Historical Singing with Lambert Climent. He has also received classes and advice from Carlos Mena, Miriam Feuersinger and Roberto Balconi, among others. He has received a scholarship from the Fundació Victòria dels Àngels and has participated in Wolfram Rieger's International Lied Course.
As a soloist Daniel Folqué has performed works such as Purcell's Dido and Aeneas, Monteverdi's Selva Morale e Spirituale, J.S. Bach's\Magnificat (BWV 243) and W.A. Mozart's Requiem. Winner of the Bach Scholarship for young soloists of the Salvat foundation, he has sung as alto soloist J.S. Bach's Cantatas BWV 12, BWV 22, BWV 23, BWV 32, BWV 44 and BWV 150. Under the direction of Václav Luks he shaped the role of Hercules in the secular cantata BWV 213 at the opening concert of BACHcelona: Festival Bach de Barcelona. He has worked with the Cor Jove Nacional de Catalunya, Collegium Vocale Gent (Director: Philippe Herreweghe), Ensamble Daedalus, Ensemble O Vos Omnes, Cor de Cambra Francesc Valls, La Capella Reial de Catalunya (Director: Jordi Savall), Cor de Cambra del Palau de la Música, Vox Luminis (Director: Lionel Meunier), Bach Collegium Barcelona (Director: Pau Jorquera) and is a founding member of the Cor Cererols (since October 2021). He has recorded choral projects with titles such as Cum Silentio with Cor Cererols and Epistulae ad Sagittarium with the Ensemble O Vos Omnes. He has participated in the Utrecht Early Music Festival, Rudolstadt Festival and BACHcelona: Festival Bach de Barcelona. |
