Anna Fijałkowska (Mezzo-soprano)

Born: Poland

The Polish mezzo-soprano, Anna Fijałkowska, graduated from the Uniwersytecie Muzycznym Fryderyka Chopina (Fryderyk Chopin University of Music) at the Faculty of Music Education, specializing in church music and the Vocal Faculty (diploma with distinction). During her studies she took a job at the National Philharmonic Choir. As a choir soloist, she co-operated with such conductors as Antoni Wit , Henryk Wojnarowski, Massimiliano Caldi, Victor Pablo Perez, Łukasz Borowicz, and Krzysztof Urbański.

In 2014, Anna Fijałkowska e performed the solo alto part during the world premiere of the composition Crying in the Wilderness by Alexandra Raskatova (Istanbul, conductor Andres Mustonen). In June 2012, she made her debut at the Teatru Wielkiego - Opery Narodowej (Polish National Opera) in the student play Midsummer Night's Dream by Benjamin Britten (Hipolita's part). In February 2013, she appeared in the student production of Giacomo Puccini's opera Suor Angelica as Zia Principessa. In March 2014, as Ottavia, she took part in a performance created in co-operation with students of the Directing Department of the Theater Academy, Scenes from the Coronation of Poppea to the music of Claudio Monteverdi.

Anna Fijałkowska has been cooperating with the early music ensemble La Tempesta (Director: Jakub Burzyński) for years. In 2012, she became a finalist of the Konkursu dla Młodych Wykonawców Muzyki (Polish National Competition for Young Music Performers) of the 20th and 21st Centuries. She took part in master-classes led by Anitę Garanča, Urszulę Kryger, Agnieszkę Rehlis as well as Doris and Richard Cross.
