Jonas Degerfeldt (Tenor)

Born: Sweden

The Swedish tenor, Jonas Degerfeldt, received the Set Svanholm Scholarship in 2001. He studied at the University College of Opera in Stockholm.

Jonas Degerfeldt is a soloist in the ensemble of the Royal Swedish Opera, where he has sung roles like Tamino in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Almaviva in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Raymond in Tchaikovsky’s Jeanne d´Arc, Fenton in The Merry Wives of Windsor, Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus, An Italian singer in Capriccio, Don José in Georges Bizet's Carmen, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly and Leicester in Maria Stuarda. Jonas has sung Ferrando in W.A. Mozart's Così fan tutte, Alfredo in La traviata, Lensky in Eugene Onegin, Rodolfo in La Bohème, Fenton in Falstaff, Alfred in Die Fledermaus, the title role of Werther and Chevalier de la Force in Francis Poulenc's Dialogues des Carmélites.

Jonas Degerfeldt has appeared at the Drottningholm Court Theatre as Ferrando in Così fan tutte and Gustav III in Miklós Maros’ new opera Kastrater and in the 2014 Royal Swedish Opera's production of W.A. Mozart's Idomeneo at Drottningholm, he sang the title role. He has been a guest at the Norwegian Opera in Oslo singing the role of Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus, He has appeared as Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni at the Scottish Opera, Ramiro in La Cenerentola at La Monnaie in Brussels, Sam Polk in Carlisle Floyd’s Susannah as well as Lensky at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, at the Spoleto Festival, as well as at the Norwegian Opera. He has sung Almaviva at the Finnish National Opera and he has appeared as Achille in Gluck’s Iphigénie en Aulide at the Glyndebourne Festival Opera, in concert at Concertgebouw, Amsterdam, and covered for the role at Teatro alla Scala.

In concert Jonas Degerfeldt has appeared with all the major symphony orchestras in his home county. With the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and Manfred Honeck he has sung Die Schöpfung, W.A. Mozart’s Requiem, Alfred in Die Fledermaus in concert and Schmidt’s Das Buch mit Sieben Siegeln. He has appeared as Don Ottavio in concert performances of W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni with the Swedish Chamber Orchestra and in W.A. Mozart’s Requiem with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, both under the baton of Lawrence Renes.
