Déborah Cachet (Soprano)

Born: Brugge, Belgium

The Belgian soprano, Déborah Cachet, studied in Leuven (Belgium) at Luca School of Arts with Gerda Lombaerts and Dina Grossberger (2008-2012) and at Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Sasja Hunnego (2012-2015). She is currently working on her vocal technique with Rosemary Joshua. She won prizes in several vocal competitions: She won the first prize at the Concours International de Chant Baroque de Froville (2015) as well as the first prize and the audience award in the New Tenuto competition (2013). She was a finalist for the 8th International Singing Competition for Baroque Opera Pietro Antonio Cesti in Innsbruck (2017). She will be part of the Les Arts Florissants' young artist programme Le Jardin des Voix 2019. With William Christie and Paul Agnew, she will interpret the role of Arminda in La finta Giardiniera by W.A. Mozart.

Recent performances have included the role of La Statue in Rameau's Pygmalion with Paul Agnew and Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, the roles of both Dido and Didon in Henry Purcell's Dido and Aeneas and Desmarest's Didon et Énee in a European tour, as part of the Festival d'Ambronay Baroque Academy directed by Paul Agnew, as well as the roles of Déjanire and La Lune in Le Ballet Royal de la Nuit with Ensemble Correspondances directed by Sébastien Daucé in Caen, Versailles and Dijon, Helena in Benjamin Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Opera de Tours under the batton of Benjamin Pionnier, the roles of Procri, Musa and Ninfa in Gli amore d'Apollo e di Dafne at the Innsbrucker Festwochen für Alte Musik as well as Alphise in a concertperformance of Les Boréades (Rameau) at the Oude Muziek Festival (Utrecht) with Václav Luks and his Collegium 1704.

Déborah Cachet was invited at L'abbaye de Royaumont where she sang the role of Cherubino in W.A. Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro with René Jacobs and where she worked on J.S. Bach cantatas with Raphaël Pichon and Christian Immler. She portrayed Venus in the opera Venus & Adonis by John Blow with Nicolas Achten and Muziektheater Transparant, Barbarina in Le Nozze di Figaro with the Dutch National Opera Academy (DNOA) conducted by Jonathan Cohen and Morgana in George Frideric Handel's Alcina with the DNOA conducted by Kenneth Montgomery.

Déborah Cachet has worked with ensembles such as Ensemble Pygmalion (Director: Raphaël Pichon), Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Ensemble Correspondances, Le Poème Harmonique, Scherzi Musicali, L'Achéron and Les Muffatti.

Alongside her regular concert appearances Déborah Cachet has also sung for several recordings including Ensemble Pygmalion (Raphaël Pichon) Stravaganza d'Amore as well as the recordings of La Maddalena (A. Bertali), Petits Motets II (H. Fiocco) and Dialoghi Amorosi (G.F. Sances) of Scherzi Musicali (Nicolas Achten). She recently sung for the recording of the program Breve e la Vita Nostra by Le Poème Harmonique (Vincent Dumestre). This recording is scheduled to appear in 2019.

Future engagements include the soprano solo in Leçons de ténèbres (Charpentier and François Couperin) with Christophe Rousset and Les Talens Lyriques, a concert tour of Christmas Oratorio (Charpentier) with Reinoud Van Mechelen and A Nocte Temporis as well as concerts with various programmes with Ensemble Correspondances, Le Poème Harmonique, Scherzi Musicali, Les Muffatti, and Holland Baroque. She currently lives in Paris, France.
