Angky Budiardjono (Baritone)

Born: Jakarta, Indonesia

The Indonesian-born baritone, Angky Budiardjono, was raised in California. He obtained his Bachelor of Music degreee in Vocal performance Magna cum Laude from University of California Santa Barbara (2013); and his Master of Music degree in Vocal performance Summa cum Laude from The Setnor School of Music, Syracuse University (2015). He was a finalist in both the Upstate New York chapter of the 2013 National Association of Teachers of Singing vocal competition and the Civic Morning Musical Vocal Competition. In 2015, he was selected as one of twelve finalists to compete in the National Opera Association's Carolyn Bailey and Dominick Argento National Vocal Competition where he performed for International Singers Samuel Ramey, Stephanie Blythe and Fort Worth Opera's Darren Woods. He has also performed in master-classes for world renowned opera stars Stephanie Blythe and Jon Fredric West.

During summer 2014, Angky Budiardjono was an Advanced Artist with OperaWorks working intensively and holistically with founder and director Ann Baltz. Highlights of the 2014-2015 season include performing with the SU symphony orchestra and the Setnor choirs as the soloist in Ralph Vaughan Williams' Five Mystical Songs, Syracuse Opera debut as Fiorello in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, and premiering an operetta written for him by Italian composer Marco Giusto. In the summer of 2015, he premiered the role of Ed Blocker in the opera A New Kind of Fallout at Opera Theater of Pittsburgh, where he also covered The Count/Der Graf in a new orchesration of Strauss' Capriccio.

Angky Budiardjono's lyric baritone has been described as a voice of exceptional beauty, with a strong, dark timbre. He made his professional debut as Marullo in Oswego City Opera's production of Rigoletto in 2014. Since then he made his Syracuse Opera debut as Fiorello in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, and has gone on to perform on stage as, Ben (The Telephone), A. Mezzo (OperaWorks' The Heist),Giacomo Nemori (Giusto's Il Profumo dell'Amore), and Ed Blocker (A New Kind of Fallout.) Other roles include the title role in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni, the Officer in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, and Pilatus in Arvo Pärt’s Passio Domini Nostri Jesu Christi secundum Joannem.
