Maude Brunet (Mezzo-soprano)

Born: Montréal, Québec, Canada

The Canadian mezzo-soprano, Maude Brunet obtained her Bachelor of Music degree in Music Interpretation Classical Singing (2004-2008) and her Master of Music degree in Music Interpretation Classical Singing (2008-2010) from the Montreal University.

Maude Brunet is known for her warm, rich tone and expressive musicality. Her sensitive artistry and refined singing have made her a highly sought-after singer, performing with many of Canada’s most prestigious festivals, opera companies, instrumental and vocal ensembles, including Aradia Ensemble (Director: Kevin Mallon), Bishop Choir, Boréades, Choeur St-Laurent, Clavecin en Concert, Concours international d'orgue du Canada, Ensemble Caprice (Director: Matthias Maute), Le Festival Bach de Montréal, Festival de Lanaudière, Festival international de musique baroque de Lamèque, Festival Montréal Baroque, Festival Orford, Festivoix Trois-Rivières, Guelph Chamber Choir, Harmonie des Saisons, King's College Chapel Choir, Les Idées heureuses (Director: Geneviève Soly), Menno Singers, Orchestre symphonique de Laval, Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal (orchestre de chambre), Orchestre symphonique de Trois-Rivières, Orchestre Symphonique de Québec, Ottawa Chamberfest, Société d'Art Lyrique du Royaume, Studio de Musique Ancienne de Montréal, Thirteen Strings Chamber Orchestra, Vancouver Early Music Festival, Les Violons du Roy.

Concert highlights for Maude Brunet include W.A. Mozart's Requiem with Orchestre Symphonique de Québec, Giovanni Battista Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater with Grands Ballets Canadiens, George Frideric Handel’s Messiah with Trois-Rivières Symphony Orchestra and J.S. Bach's Psalm 51 (BWV 1083) with Les Violons du Roy. A frequent soloist with Matthias Maute's acclaimed Ensemble Caprice, she starred in Antonio Vivaldi's Juditha Triumphans, which won the 2014 Opus Prize for Concert of the Year - Baroque Music.

This season (2017-2018), concert engagements include a Messiah tour, Vivaldi’s Stabat Mater with Les Violons du Roy and A. Vivaldi's Gloria with Laval Symphony Orchestra. In 2019, Maude Brunet will join Ensemble Caprice to perform J.S. Bach's B Minor Mass (BWV 232), as well as a J.S. Bach's cantatas program, part of the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Montréal: Cantates de Bach. A regular guest of that Serie, she will also sing cantatas with Studio de Musique Ancienne and Laval Symphony Orchestra. She currently lives in Montréal, Québec, Canada.
