Corrado Bolsi (Violin, Conductor)

Born: Rome, Italy

The Italian violinist and conductor, Corrado Bolsi, graduated with honors from the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome. He studied violin under the guidance of P. Vernikov and chamber music with P. Farulli and F. Rossi, members of an Italian quartet. His interest in ancient music led him to work with Christophe Coin, Jordi Savall, Christopher Hogwood, Fabio Biondi among others, holding numerous concerts throughout Europe.

In 1993 Corrado Bolsi appointed Professor at the Royal Conservatory of Belgium, he moved to Gent and developed an important career of Konzertmeister in various European orchestras. Vlaamse Opera, Beethoven Academie, Belgian Radio Orchestra, WDR Sinfonieorchester Köln, Barcelona’s Teatro del Liceu Orchestra, Barcelona Symphony Orchestra, Orquesta Sinfónica de Madrid, Orchestra of Granada, Malaga Symphony, Navarra Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of Menorca, Orchestra of Tarragona, Valles Symphony, Real Filharmonia de Galicia, Chamber Orchestra of Cervera, Symphonic Orchestra of Medellin. His professional engagements have been in Europe, Latin America and the USA.

As a soloist and chamber musician Corrado Bolsi has given concerts all over the world playing in the most prestigious rooms a repertoire that ranges from ancient music to the avant-garde music of the 21st century. From the Carnegie Hall in New York to the Muzikverein in Vienna, Concertgebow Amsterdam. Bunka Kaikan Tokyo, Melba Hall Melbourne, Theater des Champs Elisée Paris, Konzerhouse Oslo, Frankfurt Opera, Philarmonia Munich among others. With his pedological skills, playing with the Kandinsky trio, he has played all over Spain.

As a Soloist-Director he has conducted numerous orchestras in Europe and since 2011/2012 he is the Artistic and Musical Director of the Orquestra de Cambra de Granollers. In 2003 he was appointed Professor of Violin and Director of the String Department at the Conservatorio Superiore del Liceu in Barcelona, where he lives. He has held courses and master-classes in Spain (Madrid and Barcelona), France (Amberes, Paris), Germany (Cologne), Italy, Norway, Japan, Canada, Peru, Belgium, Colombia, USA.

Corrado Bolsi has recorded for the Columna record company and as a soloist under the direction of Rinaldo Alessandrini, J. Cayers, Harry Christophers, Christopher Hogwood, Robert King, E. Martinez Isquierdo, J. Pons, H. Scellenberger, G. Van Waas and A. Ros Marva. He plays a famous violin by J.B.Villaume ex-Kaufmann of 1829.
