Kristine Bjånes (Soprano, Choral Conductor)

Born: Osøyro, Norway

The Norweguian soprano and choral conductor, Kristine Bjånes, studied choral conducting at the Griegakademiet (Grieg Academy) and is a former singer in the elite choir «Voci Nobili», under the direction of Maria Gamborg Helbekkmo. She is conductor of the youth choir and is a freelance vocalist, conductor, composer and producer for musical projects. She has extensive experience, is versatile and is constantly hired in various contexts as a singer.

Kristine Bjånes works in the vocal ensembles Winckel (since August 2018) and Flaskehalz; previously also in the vocal group Taus (2001-2017) which has toured for the cultural Spaserstokken (Flaskehalz) and Den kulturelle Skolesekken in Hordaland (Winckel).

Together with Elin Hestenes, Kristine Bjånes has created the course "KlangPang" - a sound making course for children. She has a unique enthusiasm for singing and in particular she has a desire to convey that singing is for everyone - it does not even always have to be beautiful, in the classical sense. The voice's unique ability to create countless types of sounds, sounds and expressions is something she is passionate about, and she encourages everyone to use the voice! The duo has composed and produced a participating concert for children; "Knasande tang og måkebrøl" in collaboration with the City Museum and the Horda Museum in Bergen.

They were also hand-picked to compose and produce the new Bergen song "Vi e Bergen" which was launched in connection with the 950th anniversary. The planned opening of the Festival 2020 together with 1000 children, BFO youth, bands and soloists, we must unfortunately have the opportunity to experience. In the winter of 2021, the duo plans their first album: the children's album "1000 skjermer inni meg" (1000 screens inside me).

With the vocal ensemble Winckel, Kristine Bjånes can be heard in concerts and events. They have toured Hordaland's junior high schools with the project «Total vokal». With Taus, she had 57 performances on the National Stage in Bergen with the self-composed performance «Tøysete teselskap» in collaboration with DNS 2016-2017. In the autumn of 2016, she contributed as a singer and actress in the performance «Julerosene» (Christmas Roses) at Hordaland Teater.

Kristine Bjånes has extensive experience in choir conducting for both children and adults. She currently lives in Bergen, Hordaland, Norway.
