Laura Binggeli (Mezzo-soprano)

Born: Lucerne, Switzerland

The Swiss mezzo-soprano, Laura W. Binggeli (Kull), trained intially as a bookseller. She then began her studies in singing at the Hochschule Luzern Musik under with Liliane Zürcher. At the Hochschule für Musik Basel she completed the Master degree in Performance in 2017 after completing her Master of Pedagogy degree. Master-classes with Margreet Honig, Paul Triepels and Mariette Nollen among others copmplemented her training. She deepened her Lied repertoire in courses with Jan Schultsz, Anton Kernjak, Edward Rushton and Roger Vignoles.

Under the direction of Andrew Dunscombe, Laura Binggeli gained stage experience in the role of Hansel in Engelbert Humperdinck's opera Hansel und Gretel. In a scenic production with songs by Charles Ives she sang under the direction of Matthias Behrens. In March 2016 she sang the role of the lucky child in the production Der Teufel mit den drei goldenen Haaren at the Theater Basel. In the spring of 2017 she was again a guest at the Theater Basel (Die Genesung der Grille). In the fall of 2017, she was able to play a starring role in the production Lamento at the Gare du Nord Basel, with could also be heard at the Festival "Mannheimer Sommer" in 2018 ((Nationaltheater Mannheim).

In addition to her solo career, Laura Binggeli enjoys the professional vocal ensembles, including the Larynx Vokalensemble (Director: Jakob Pilgram) in Basel, Davos Festival Kammerchor and Chor der J.S. Bach-Stiftung St. Gallen (Director: Rudolf Lutz).

As a soloist, Laura Binggeli performs in church and chamber music concerts. She works as a singing pedagogue in Basel and Zürich. She currently lives in Basel, Switzerland.
