Klaus Basten (Bass-Baritone)

Born: Germany

The German bass-baritone, Klaus Basten, studied Singing at the Staatlichen Hochschule für Musik in Heidelberg/Mannheim, where he graduated with a concert exam.

Klaus Basten worked first as freelance in several radio choirs, including Coro della Radio Svizzera (Director: Diego Fasolis), before he gained his first opera experience at the Jungen Oper der Staatsoper Stuttgart. Since 2001 he is a member of the Chor der Bayerischen Staatsoper. He was Jurist in the recording of Ferruccio Busoni: Doktor Faust with Bayerisches Staatsorchester conducted by Tomas Netopil (Oehms Classics, 2013).
