Born: USA

The American bass, John David Adams, studied voice and opera at the Hartt School of Music and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

John D. Adams establised his professional career in California before returning to New England where he enjoys a busy schedule of performing engagements. His concert repertoire ranges from works of Monteverdi and Purcell to world-premier compositions; he has been featured with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, Berkeley Symphony, Berkeley Lyric Opera Orchestra, Marin Chamber Orchestra, North Shore Philharmonic, Midcoast Symphony, Maine Pro Musica, Maine Music Society, Arlington Philharmonic, New England Wind Symphony, Oratorio Chorale, Masterworks Chorale, San Francisco Bach Choir, White Mountain Musical Arts: Bach Festival, Blue Hill Bach, and Portland Early Music Festival, among others.

John D. Adams has performed professionally with the San Francisco Symphony Chorus (including three Grammy award-winning recordings), the Sanford Dole Ensemble, San Francisco Bach Choir, and San Francisco Chamber Singers in California; as well a being a founding member of Aureole Chamber Ensemble and Vox Nova Chamber Choir in Maine. He joined the St Mary Schola (Director: Bruce Fithian) in 2010, singing the role of Plutone in Monteverdi’s Il Ballo delle Ingrate. A powerful and insightful soloist, his rich, flexible voice is especially well-suited to Baroque literature, notably the cantatas and oratorios of J.S. Bach and George Frideric Handel for which he is in increasing demand.
